Sharkey's CD 2/10
I think the only track on there I liked was Jump 2 Da Groove 2009.
When did Sharkey start playing cheese again? I think he should stick with Freeform, he seems to be better at that.
And please let Today's The Day DIE.
That S3RL track he dropped was ALMOST good. Just like every other S3RL track.
Chris Unknown's CD 7/10
Good CD, loads of good tracks, scratching, good progression.
Hixxy's CD 9/10
I don't think Hixxy can ever disappoint me. Really, I can't identify with any DJ/Producer's style more besides Re-Con/Squad-E/Breeze (aka Raverbaby).
Overall score: 7/10
Worth the money just for Hixxy's CD.. because that was my favorite era of nuskool UK hardcore.

Really Hixxy 9/10? lol you can't be dispointed cuz he used songs that everybody kinda likes, and played it safe using old songs. I didnt mind it though, dont get me wrong, it was a not bad mix becuase i liked most of the songs from other bonkers, and Clublands, or where ever they came from.
I originally gave Chris Unknown the worst score the first time i heard it, but after listening to it a couple times (may 7 or 8 times) i began to like it more and more. The scratching really got me into it, its in i think Pacman, Pilgrim, Come together (or coming together, either one), i think one other song. I loved Amigos, but the first song, Whitney Houston? is that the original artist? come on...
Sharkey...i has and okay mix...i found that i couldnt really hear the bass as much compare to the other mixes, and the vocals were a bit low....is this just my version, or everyone? And Todays the Day, i love that song, doesnt matter when i hear, or where, its kick ass.
(Brand New Vote)
Hixxy: 6/10
Chris Unkown: 9.5/10 (cuz of the first song)
Sharkey: 6.5/10
hmmm....right now i think im listening to clubland vol 4.... yep i am

Yes, Hixxy obviously has been playing it safe as of late with album mixes. I am dying to hear a new real album mix from him. I don't think he has the time really. He has a baby to take care of and is flying all over the place.
Eitherway, I enjoyed his CD way more than Sharkey's.
My real problem with Sharkey's mix is that it didn't sound like freeform at all. The other thing was that each tune just lacked the energy and euphoria that I have come to expect from UK Hardcore.
I was almost worried that the whole album was going to suck after listening to it and that UK Hardcore was in trouble again (like the beginning of 2008 with the onslaught of TNC and Electro Hardcore). Do not want!

you can tell you're new to hardcore... you've mustn't have heard hixxy's mix' tunes ever before... and you need to learn what cheese is, because not much of it is on sharkeys mix! its way more on chris unknowns! If discoland isnt cheese, then sum1 shoot me...

I've been new since 99.
There's plenty of cheese on Sharkey's mix. I mean he plays an S3RL track for god sakes.

hixxy 9 out of 10?
wow the whole mix from a djs point of view is a massive embarrasment, especially from someone with such a high profile as hixxy. the tunes are ok but none of them go together and the mixing is really really bad. i wouldnt even give it a 1 out of 10

Now I'm really interested in hearing one of your mixes.
I'd say the progression is probably not as good as Unknown's but the track selection is ****ing stellar. I really liked the transition into Still The One. I'm gunna listen another few times and see if I can see your side of things.
I just really loved the track selection. Although there are a few old tracks they are some of my all time favorites.
A few (not many) of the of the tracks on Unknown's CD were a miss. His CD is still really good though.
I really want to hear a new album mix by Sy. He makes some of the best mixes as well.

im not a "professional DJ" like hixxy or dont claim to be..
im not knocking the tracklisting at all, im stating facts about how much of a shite mix from a djs point of view, by that i mean transitions and the way he's mixed some tunes into eachother IE the mixing in on the breakdown of you're my angel... hixxy has been in this game for over 15 years and should NOT be doin mixes like that that go on sale nationwide in shops!!!

He has a cd full of his latest productions every year just before christmas time on Clubland X-treme Hardcore! That's more productivity than a lot of HHC artists. You're not the first one to express the impression that Hixxy is retired from producing and only plays classics... I guess it can't be helped with his oldschool CDs on both HTID and Bonkers recently...

I say his mixing on this cd is less predictable than most album mixes these last years... What's wrong with a little experimentation, especially with such played-out tracks? Plus he's not the first one to try funky mixing on professional albums... take a listen to Brisk's cd from Hardcore heaven 2005, you'll see what I mean I think!

Brisk's mixing is unbelieveable, the best in hardcore IMO.

you dont need to be a DJ to know a bad mix from a good one. eg. you dont mix a song with the beat and bass playin into a breakdown. also, if you'd have been into hardcore since 99, you'd have clearly had seen the value for money issues with hixxy's mix. his tracks arent hard to spot in the scene and anyone around long enough would have them on another album...
meh each to their own.. :S

100% agree... when I read the cheese/Sharkey comment followed by the review of the other 2 CDs I actually thought it was a troll post! Obviously new to hardcore, as acidfluxx said. And the scooter tracks are far more cheesey than any S3RL track.
I think the Hixxy and Unknown discs are more likely to be favoured by the chav following for happyhardcore in some areas of the UK at the moment, not the die hard fans who love happyhardcore through and through and have followed it for many years in it's many different forms. Just my opinion though.
