Hixxy
Breeze
Styles
Re-Con
Squad-E
UFO
basically, the RaverBaby crew
ARE the most well known Hardcore artists, whether you like it or not :P
other well known artists:
Brisk
Ham
Sy
Unknown
Dougal
Gammer
Kevin energy
Sharkey
Scott Brown
Those artists seem to me like the most well known in the scene and outside of the scene. Although there are amazing quantities of great material available from these artists, I suggest you don't limit yourself to them and explore many others!

if we're introducing a new member to hardcore, we should introduce him to the better stuff. the real hardcore.. worst possible outcome is him listening to 'darren styles - sorry' or some rubbish like that.

You should show them the commercial stuff first. That's the gateway into hardcore. Sorry that it's so good that lots of people like it.

Well if it really is rubbish, he probably won't like it and move on anyways :P
Spoolthboost, I suggest you check as many artists and albums as possible, don't restrain yourself to certain labels or series, theres a lot of stuff out there to check out :)
