One of his tracks was on the latest Bonkers album.

Well it's not just that hardcore is suffering within.
Here in the California bay area, hardcore is a joke to most DJs and ravers. They all want to listen to house and trance, so hardcore suffers. The last record store in the area that sold hardcore records just closed down, so the only way to get it now is internationally.
I dunno how long hardcore will hold out, but I'm not gonna give up until it's done.
Doesn't Dr Freeclouds still sell hardcore?
Anyway, why do dj's/producers insist on "Quitting" and for the listeners, why do they have these black or white statements about if this producer goes i'm going to stop listening to hardcore forever!
If it is nothing you can change, just enjoy what comes out, and if nothing new comes out get on with it, and if it does, then get on it! Surely most peoples entire lives cannot revolve around hardcore to the point where they have to make a drastic change just because nothing good is being released...
Its a shame some good producers are stopping to produce hardcore, but if they really love it and enjoy making it, they will always continue in some fashion or another, i know i have a huge problem opening cubase and setting the tempo below 165!
Exactly, G-man. I've never understood the kneejerk 'I'm leaving the scene!' announcements. Every writer goes through phases where they feel like they're banging their head against a wall, or feels the need to move on and try something new, but I don't understand why anyone would want or need to categorically remove themself from a style of music.
Just chill out, take a break for a while, and if you don't write anything 'Hardcore' again, then so be it, but why rule it out forever when you could easily have a change of heart 6 months down the line?
isnt vinylgroover a prime example of really leaving a genre? =P

There's not been much stuff from Robbie Long either.
Anyone know what happened to him? (not that I'm a fan)

just as Triq said, He REALLY left hardcore, alongs side Trixxy "The Red Hed". I basicly got that confirmed when I sent him a message on MySpaz about his older happy hardcore tune, which he promotly replied "support your dj"... which is kinda hard when he only produces other styles I dont want
those tracks with BK are propably just labeled hardcore by misstake, or they are remixes by Gammer

Doubt it. He's one of the only labels still supporting upcoming talent.
And he's always been very encouraging and supportive for me whenever i speak to him. I don't think he's leaving anytime soon.

You are not a fan of Robbie Long?. Are you mad?. Technically one of the best DJs on the circuit and has stayed with the Hardcore sound through thick and thin. Dunno how you can't like the stuff on TNC, with the likes of AMS and Stormtrooper.
He's still around, releasing music, DJing and he's got several new tracks in the pipeline.
And I don't feel there's any uncertain doom just now. The scene is really strong and it wont be dipping any time soon.
Just because a few producers have taken a break, doesn't necessarily mean it's all doom and gloom. As one producer stops, another one takes his place.
Sure, people like Impact have taken a back step. But Hardcore has lost bigger and better producers and has still flourished.
There's plenty of new albums forthcoming, and event attendances seem to be strong.
What with the likes of Darwin, Fracus. Spit, Entity, Gammer, Ham, Firefly, Devastate, Andy Freestyle, Lost Soul, Marc Smith, Al Storm, Chaos, Auscore, Nu Foundation, Re-Con....
Everything seems good. People have been saying since 2003 that the scene will die, and it has only got stronger. Don't think about these things and enjoy the music.

I'm sorry but Robbie Long just doesn't appeal to me. I've got Hardcore Nation 3 and his stuff just isn't what I'm into. Stormtrooper's stuff doesn't appeal to me either...apart from that track on Hardcore Underground Stormtrooper vs. DJ Helical ft. Sam Davage - Come With Me
I guess it's because I'm not really into the freeform style of stuff

Different strokes for different folks?
He is wrong though, TNC rule! Speaking of which, i haven't seen many releases lately.
