All I got left is Darwin, Scott Brown, and Orbit1 if those two call it quits then I guess I'll go back to Noizecore or Speedbass which sounds like someones ass going through a grinder and can be super slow but I still like it anyways goddamnit.
That and chiptunes... whatever...

maybe the future of hardcore lies where it was created?
when hardcore became more trancey, and better production tools were available, producers began to experiment. bonkers 7 is the best sign of this. as result hardcore basically hit its lowest low, but a new hardcore was made in the form of what we listen to allot today. Perhaps if we went back to the point were experimental tunes were being made, we could use some tunes as inspiration for new styles?

tbh, I just think we're ignorant to what's happening.
If no one mentions anything about leaving, I dont think no one would notice untill "oh I haven't seen X for a while". This excludes Scott Brown as he's still releasing updates on evolution releases, so he's not exactly "knocked out cold" yet.
We got alot of artists who's gone away fairly quiet (except on ush.net). The Likes of DJ Kaos/Go Mental, Ponder, DOK and DJHB. Have anyone even noticed these fellas? No only ones we notes that leaves are Vinylgroover, Trixxy, Fade, Impact and CLSM, because they announced it.
This shows we don't really care about who leaves. They have had the game for a while, and some propably felt that the newcomers should take over.

Yeah, I haven't 'left' and probably never will, but I can't deny that my activity has slowed down somewhat, largely due to my lack of passion and commitment towards Hardcore these days.
At the same time, my influences within dance music largely come from Trance and Drum & Bass, and have done for sometime. I just write / produce music I enjoy and go from there. Some of it gets classed as Hardcore or Freeform or Breakbeat, whatever, that doesn't bother me.
There are a few bits and pieces about to come through though. A remix I've done of a Wizbit track entitled 'Live For Nothing' will be getting a vinyl release on Electronic Bedlam in the next couple of months. I've just (kind of) finished a remix of a vocal track for Darkcyde, which should be featuring on HU4, and plan to release a handful of original vocal projects in the coming months. They've been lying around on my PC for upto 18 months, so I suppose I should polish them up and get them out there ;)
So, to clarify. I haven't "left the scene", I just think there's more to life than Hardcore, and that's reflected in both my music and my attitude towards music.
It's nice to know some people still remember me, though. Haha.
Edit: few new bits on Myspaz by the way... www.myspace.com/pondz

I dunno how long hardcore will hold out, but I'm not gonna give up until it's done.
Doesn't Dr Freeclouds still sell hardcore?
Anyway, why do dj's/producers insist on "Quitting" and for the listeners, why do they have these black or white statements about if this producer goes i'm going to stop listening to hardcore forever!
If it is nothing you can change, just enjoy what comes out, and if nothing new comes out get on with it, and if it does, then get on it! Surely most peoples entire lives cannot revolve around hardcore to the point where they have to make a drastic change just because nothing good is being released...
Its a shame some good producers are stopping to produce hardcore, but if they really love it and enjoy making it, they will always continue in some fashion or another, i know i have a huge problem opening cubase and setting the tempo below 165!

Who cares if people leave.
Just means new people to come through and the music will evolve.
Yeah I loved in back in the day ('91 onwards) but the production on the tunes is better now then it ever was.
The scene may be getting smaller, just like it has in the past, but its the new stuff and its evolution I'm looking forward too.
That's exciting. 2009 rocks!

Exactly, G-man. I've never understood the kneejerk 'I'm leaving the scene!' announcements. Every writer goes through phases where they feel like they're banging their head against a wall, or feels the need to move on and try something new, but I don't understand why anyone would want or need to categorically remove themself from a style of music.
Just chill out, take a break for a while, and if you don't write anything 'Hardcore' again, then so be it, but why rule it out forever when you could easily have a change of heart 6 months down the line?

I would personally love to here more dutch/90s cheese influences. More raw kickdrums, more chipmunks, and more funny noises. BUT!! It's all been done! What we are faced with are the questions..."what do we do now?" & "What hasn't been done yet?" We've had the breakbeat, we've had the 4/4(kickdrum incl.), we've had the riffs, we've had the trance synths, we've had electro...what else can we do to keep the genre going, sounding fresh, and still have it considered Hardcore? I wouldn't mind taking influences from 1998 era, some great stuff coming out then!

Speaking of missing people, did Arkitech drop out? I haven't heard of anything from him in a while. Maybe I'm just not looking.
