i never said anything about how haarrrrrdd it would be.

ISPs in the UK have every right after you sign their TnC to shut your account down for whatever reason they want.

And PAYG mobile broadband?

Anyway, I don't see why you guys are discussing this and trying to find solutions how to get covered, I mean, what for ?? If you need something then just buy it. Whatever you download on the internet is shit.

Movies : They are in a bad quality sometimes. Also, what do you prefer : having it on your computer, which might take like 100 GB of space, or having the original case, with the bonuses, making of, etc etc ? It's so way better...

Music : Most of the time in shit quality, pitched up at 185 BPM, parts missing, blablabla..

Porn : Well I prefer to have a girlfriend :)

Games : Same as movies, I prefer to have the case and add it to my collection ( ok I don't play videogames but if I would I would think this way ), have the handbook with it and stuff..

Also, even if what you look for is in perfect condition.. it's.. ugh.. I don't know how to say but when I buy a new track, this track for me is different, it has another feeling, a feeling of freshness, like when you buy a new car ! See what I mean ?

So what do you need proxies for ? I personally don't need one...

sorry wilky i didnt mean to skip your quesiton, got caught up with the whole suspension thing lol

payg would work at making it difficult for them to get you personally

but then - WAP is shitslow so why would you be pirating on it anyway :P

unless your hooking up via wireless and in either case it still comes back to suspicious activity
after signing ISP's TnC or picking up a payg contract you still go through an ISP/wireless or otherwise that could just cut you off if they deamed you downloading illegally, or supsiously using proxys (which im willing to bet is against alot of ISP policys in the UK anyway)

im totally siding with revs here though - because at the moment i really dont care :)
when this stuff ACTUALLY happens and privacy is actually threatened, then i will start caring

at the moment its just more media whining scare mongering so they can pull a story

and im not talking about suspcious privacy here - im not doing anything illegal - i just dont want some nerd up top snooping on my goatporn that me and meathead share with each other

If you were to visit the site in question, Triquatra, you would find that it hosts no illegal content, or even links to it. There is nothing illegal about that site, it is simply a technology news site that runs stories on piracy and Bit*******.

It is not a ******* site.

Except the music industry is incredibly incompetent when it comes to presenting evidence and have won most of their cases because they paid off the judges.

Something like this could never be fair. I mean, file sharers won't even get a fair trial, because according to the music industry, it would take too long.
**edited as per forum rules**

Also, just to clarify, I always buy indie and self-released music. I will NEVER buy from RIAA/BPI/whatever labels as long as they continue to treat their paying customers and artists like shit.

@Audio Warfare, DJ Revs: It's VERY easy to cover your tracks. Only stupid people are caught.

You're also very naive if you think the powers that be can be tricked that easy. I'm sure they know a hell of a lot of things that you do not and could track you down if needs be, proxy or not.

If you're sharing files that weren't meant to be shared you're breaking the law. I don't see what more evidence is needed tbh. What case could you possibly have? YOUR views of what is right and wrong are completely worthless in a court of law.

And YOU are very naive if you think that the "powers that be" as you put it can wave a magic wand and have your information fall into their laps. There are hundreds of ways to hide yourself, each more secure than the last.

i see that they do not host *******s - i should have rephrased what i wrote there. but as i said in a later post there are links on the site to other *******s sites at the the bottom under "random links" it is a pro-filesharing website.

its really quite simple this forums policys are anti-filesharing. this is nothing personal against you - its just this forums policys.

if you want to post an article about how filesharers dont ever get a fair trail then im sure its widely documented across the net and not on such a pro-filesharing website aptly named "*******freaks" which promotes filesharing.

it doesnt matter what i think or you think - its just the rules (of this particular forum lol)

OK, I understand. Thanks for clearing that up.

Also, this is a little off topic, but if I posted a link to a ******* of my own music that I uploaded myself, would that still violate the forum's rules?

Yeah but you can bet your arse that they know of all of them and a way round most. I'm sorry but if the government want to track someone that badly they will likely be able to do it.... Unless the guy they're tracking is very good at what he does.

my point has always been that if an ISP views your IP as doing something suspcious, they have the right to just suspend your account...most of the TnC's for ISPs say that sort of thing

who needs to track when you can just suspend which is basically what the original article is saying..:)

meh either way - you go through an IP, and have an account and back to what i said before

they flag an account for suspcious activity, its just a case of shutting it down

mobile broadband is still arse-slow as well.
until they bring in full scale militica scale Wi-Max it will continue to be

yes but with PAYG mobile broadband you dont sign owt, give ur addres over or anything.. so as soon as u get cut off u whack another sim in the dongle, top up and away u go. the speeds are crap but u can still download, i download shit loads and dont even max my 15gb a month out

i dont know much about them to be honest, but i would have thought the MAC adress would be attached to the dongle and not the sim card. so it wouldnt matter what sim you're using it would be the dongle you have to keep replacing...either way if you arent having to give adresses and numbers up to get a dongle in the first place then that would certainly make yourself personallymore difficult to trace..and under new laws, which probably wont pass anyway like i said before - it would be a case of blacklisting dongles
