(maybe a bit harsh)
how can you argue anything from how darren styles' music is shyte, to mc's are stupid (tons of you never or rarely going to parties explains entirely this websites current view on us) to who you think is a good producer, to AATW ruining the scene and the world with there market filling commercialism, to friggin ANYTHING if youve never heard any of it the way its intended and CREATED for. no wonder everyones deffinition of hardcore going downhill is friggin CD compilations. cuz thats all you listen too! go to a party and then tell me how this scene is doing...this thread disturbs me
if you've even gone once then listening to hardcore at home will most probably be different. i listen to hardcore at home all the time (am doing so right now) i listen to the majority of my hardcore at home. but it is not the same as a live show. two different animals.
i realize some people live far from parties or not even the same country, maybe a plane ride away. for you i feel your pain. if you live near a club where they have hardcore parties and dont even wanna try it...dunno why you listen then honestly...
didnt wanna be so negative but im blown away right now tbh
Unfortunately I live states away from any raves whatsoever, so I haven't ever been to one. I listen to all my hardcore at home. I'm a bit surprised too about people not going to parties. Personally, I'd go to raves every weekend if I could. It seems like it'd be fun as hell, and certainly a different feeling than just listening to cd compilations all the time :|

I think it's as you said, I'm probably living under a rock! Will try to look out for South events but it always seems to be in Birmingham NEC arena and stuff. Also I'm in Brighton, so London doesn't really seem like the south for us like it is for everyone else =P
Look on the events section on here & ush.net.. U will find shit loads down by your way and not in brum
Nothing near me at the moment =( It's all London/Reading/ or further west to portsmouth/southampton. NYE looks a bit dire >__<
Watch out for a likely decent mid-size event very near you ~Q1 '10

Sounds lush! I'm excited already!
Er, to be a bit diplomatic here if that's alright ^^;; I basically think that hardcore (and any music really) was produced for love and enjoyment of the music. So if you like listening to it having some fun at home that's cool, and if you like raving it up that's cool too! I suggest to anyone who's never been to a rave to do so! Even if it's just once it's worth it to say "WOW. LOVED IT, Can't wait to go again!" or "Tried it, wasn't my bag really". If you've ever sat in your room listening to music, wanted to keep turning it up higher but for whatever reason you couldn't, then you've gotta get yourself out there and experience it louder and better than ever!
In the end it's Happy Hardcore, you've gotta experience it in a way that makes you happy!
cdjay were you thinking feb 26th? eastbourne pier?
neko as others have said check out the events section on here or add some of the producers djs you like on facebook they are always sending out invites on there.
btw s3rl was in vauxhall for freeformation last sat nite:)

music and scene but unfortunatley i,ve only ever been to 7 raves(2 weren,t hardcore)and i loved it(the hardcore ones lol)and would like to go to more,i,d love to go to 1 in england like slammin vinyl,h.t.id e.t.c but i,m the only 1 out of are group who listens to hardcore so it will prove difficult but hopefully it does happen
it happens i was in birmingham 2 weeks ago when raverbaby was on but i was flying home that night and i more than likely would have went if i stayed over(and i near always stay over)even if i couldn,t persuade my mate to go i prob would of went by myself as theres no point missing a rave when your in the area and i might of even met a few people of this site

The music has always been it for me. I've been in and out of the scene since 1994, but, have always stuck with the music. If your not in it for the music as your primary choice, then, I don't think that you will last long in the scene cause there are dickheads in the scene and you need to keep that music as a constant to navigate around those dickheads so you can meet up with the good people that you meet which I now consider good friends.

Think of it this way...
Without the music, there is no scene.
Without the scene, there is no music (or at least, very, very little of it).

wilky, i hear ya too. somethings in the scene i dont agree with, and im sure its different in our respective areas, so i honestly cant comment on how good or what goes on in your parcticular scene. as well i have always said. the best parties aint squat without the right and usually best group of mates. you've gone, more than once from what i gather, to parties, and thats all i could ask of any hardcore enthusiest.
TRY IT is all i say to people who can but havnt. at the end of the day if you find it sketchy, or its just not your thing, cool. i hope you keep listening. but try what the music IS made for.
at DJ Roz, hard luck man. ive heard that sentiment from i can only assume south or middle americans all the time...if you could ever get to the east coast of even south ontario or quebec i know there are very friendly helpful accomodating promoters in those scenes. there is people who'd help ya find places to stay, and reduced lists and all that. or ive heard the same but can not attest to california's scene depending on what state you are in but man i can only immagine how hard it must be.
manic has great point too music has to be the driving force. keeps the scene going. which in turn spawns more inspiration for music.

That's how I stopped listening to newer stuff, they got me into the 2003-2005 sound! We got some events in the biggest DnB clubs and actually everyone loves it, it's absolutely wicked! There's 2 type of Hardcore over here, "Happy Hardcore", that's what nobody likes and ( almost ) everyone makes fun of, DJ Cotts, DJ Ravine, etc ( altough I both like(d) them! ) well it's what we call UK Hardcore, and then there's what we call "Tekk/DnB-Tekk" ( because nobody likes the word 'Hardcore' ), it's you know, older stuff like from Storm, CLSM, etc. and you can dance to it like to DnB, well a bit like this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqb-N9KhO4M We also have an austrian community for all the illegal rave parties ( acidtekno.at I think ) but I think the people are all pretty ugly, the parties are cool tho, a girlfriend of mine is Deejane and often plays on those parties :-) So to conclude, the scene was never something for me, I'm for the music, and now that I've built up my own little Hardcore-Circle I can enjoy the music with people that are in another scene, like me :-)
totally disagree with all that ********. love the music and the scene ya can't beat a gud rave that's what you live for isn't it? ffs
