This surprises me.
I didn't think that was an issue at all in the UK. The flyers and line-ups from UK Hardcore parties I see all the time are ridiculously great compared to anything here in North America, and the crowd shots show thousands of people raving in insane arenas. Isn't that a healthy scene?
I suppose it's a matter of distance really. The 'states is pretty big so it must be hard to travel about. Over here I live in the very south, which used to have it's fair share of events, but now it's dried up. All the events are in the north, and it's like £80 for a train, anything around £20 and upwards for a ticket, about £50 for a hotel and even if I have that money my friends don't, So it's a tad lonely!

At the moment, the scene just isnt me... but the music is...
Define what you call scene?
In the big picture you can't have one without the other, if one dies they both die.
Well by definition of scene (just my definition) we have the whole goin out ravin, takin drugs. I dont do raves anymore as im not into singalong shows nor mcs... So there for im not into the scene.
Music by my definition is just that the music, i listen to it every single day... I argue & defend it best i can... The music side is more a listening hobby

There's loads of Hardcore parties in the South and Midlands! You been hiding under a rock or something. :P Just look at the events board on this very website and that's not even the half of it. Can see how it's a problem if you don't drive or have much spare cash though.
I can give you some details for a few free raves but you're still going to have to travel I'm afraid. If you or a willing friend don't drive you'd struggle to get to one. I must stress they don't play UK Hardcore either! Dutch Hardcore, Hardcore Techno etc. gets played though.

By that definition then I'd say the Music over the Scene.
As in I never take drugs, therefor it's hard to get over the annoying shit in any party I could have the chance to go to. Which means, the scene would piss me off more then me enjoying it, haha.

I think it's as you said, I'm probably living under a rock! Will try to look out for South events but it always seems to be in Birmingham NEC arena and stuff. Also I'm in Brighton, so London doesn't really seem like the south for us like it is for everyone else =P

scene and music are the same. cant believe the ammount of people who dont go to parties on here, which is one thing, but to NEVER have gone to a rave as some have said, i mean...i would say you've ever even heard hardcore properly! im sorry, but if you have never stood in a crowd buzzin, feeling the music (not cuz your high, but the system is loud) hands up and screemin with everyone else, jammin out on the dancefloor, not givin a shit what you look like dancing...i dont think i can even listen to your opinions. (maybe a bit harsh)
how can you argue anything from how darren styles' music is shyte, to mc's are stupid (tons of you never or rarely going to parties explains entirely this websites current view on us) to who you think is a good producer, to AATW ruining the scene and the world with there market filling commercialism, to friggin ANYTHING if youve never heard any of it the way its intended and CREATED for. no wonder everyones deffinition of hardcore going downhill is friggin CD compilations. cuz thats all you listen too! go to a party and then tell me how this scene is doing...this thread disturbs me
if you've even gone once then listening to hardcore at home will most probably be different. i listen to hardcore at home all the time (am doing so right now) i listen to the majority of my hardcore at home. but it is not the same as a live show. two different animals.
i realize some people live far from parties or not even the same country, maybe a plane ride away. for you i feel your pain. if you live near a club where they have hardcore parties and dont even wanna try it...dunno why you listen then honestly...
didnt wanna be so negative but im blown away right now tbh

Yeah pretty shocking lol (that the majority don't, not that a single person dosn't). In England everyone has a local Hardcore rave pretty much as long as they live in a major part of the country. And by local i mean close enough that there isn't any real excuse not to go if they wanted to (especially by comparison to the US. Although here lots of people really do have raves virtually on their doorstep). I'm not saying everyone should go or want to go raves though, but i mean no one can pretend there is an excuse not to if they do.

Appalling, isn't it! It is a form of dance music we are discussing here, not lounge, ambiant or anything else than music made for people to shake their booty to. Experiencing the music in it's due environment makes all the difference. It's very unfortunate that some people might never get that chance! I believe it is a matter of will as well, though.
Eversince I discovered Hardcore I've been thriving to experience the best of what this music can offer. After understanding that events here in Montreal where nowhere as big as they could be, I made several trips to Toronto, in order to experience what I though would be the real thing: Hullabaloo. It was a shock to discover how powerful the music can get, when presented in a proper environment.
I then understood that no matter how awesome the Toronto scene can be, it still can't compare to the REAL real thing, overseas in the UK. That's when I started planning a trip to Europe, and it coincided with the announcement of HTID In The Sun 2007... I just HAD to go, there was no way I would go on without experiencing the real thing at least once... I went, was blown away, and I am finally going back next summer!
Even if parties, getting drunk/high or dancing aren't your thing, seeing a DJ perform a set of your favorite music before your eyes is something not to be missed... and NO radio show can compare to that. I guess the only thing better than that is to actually be the one performing a set of your favorite music for the crowd =)
