just the music, and not a whole lot of that either. used to be both and then I got introduced to the ugly side of party politics =P
parties are so much more fun when you're oblivious to all the things going on around you

More into gigs at the minute.

Indeed, you have to stop caring about other peoples taking drugs if you want to have a good time. You wouldn't go and analyse peoples degree of drunkness and fuss about how drunk peoples are around you in a club either, at least not if you're there to have a good time. Unless over analyzing people's behaviour is your idea of fun, then go for it! I must admit it can be fun at times to just step back and enjoy the freakshow =)

Love the music and always will, although I can't see myself listening to post 1998 stuff in years to come (except feeling high). Not really been part of the scene over the past few years so can't comment on the scene today, although the last 'rave' wasn't what I class as a rave. It was jsut a club that played hardcore, and unfortunately that seems to be the way most of it is now :-(
For those of you who never experienced the raves of the early to mid 90's I really feel for you. Take my word for it, the parties were truly amazing, out of this world. Great music, great people, and a great scene. No sceptics, no nobheads, everyone was in it for the right reasons. Back then the scene and the music were one. One made the other so it was difficult to seperate.

All music sounds better loud, that way you get to hear all the insruments etc
Obnoxious? Depends which section of hardcore you're listening to, most isn't imo. But then again I find Eminem hilarious, and a lot of folk find him obnoxious ;-)
Childish? Yes is you listen to the more 'commercial' stuff, but there is sooooooooooooooo much quality stuff out there that isn't childish, or cheese. You just need to scratch beneath the surface.
It does grate on me a little when folk generalise about a genre based on a small section of it. It's like listening to Vanilla Ice and then saying all hip hop's shit :-/

Not that i ever went to real raves (far too young) but this is why i have no interest in most raves anymore (not because of raves themselves). Really dislike club environments generally.
