Speaking of which... Do we need to submit a whole track or just a sample long enough to judge the track?

I think for previous years we decided the whole track was needed to properly judge. Perhaps we could add a volume fade at the start and end as well as making tracks 128kbps to make them even harder to steal and use?

Bulby no, change absolutely nothing, it's perfect as it is. I couldn't disagree more with what acidfluxx has said to be honest (nothing personal obviously), the whole point of a competition is to all work to a similar target, if you have different sets of vocals then where is the basis for comparison, and if there is no basis for comparison, where is the competition? There isn't any! The whole point is to see who can do the best with what they are given, that is where the competition is.
Aside from that i don't see why listening to the same vocal should get boring, because the context is completely different every time, no two songs are going to be the same. If anything it should be fun listening to how several people can interpret one thing so differently.

Very good points there. I really don't think anyone else has a problem with the rules as they are...

And there HAVE to be vocals? Cause I'm working on a pretty sweet instrumental mix called at the moment.

It's OK to do a collaboration with someone else but that will be your only allowable entry.

You have to use the vocals, yes. You can use them how you wish though, chop them up, pitch them, whatever.

I don't get why some of this is so hard to understand for some people.
Seriously comments like "everyone using the same vocal is going to take away variety"
Well, we arent releasing a ****ing bonkers are we?
Would you have a basketball game with one team playing basketball and one team playing soccer? No, it wouldn't ****ing work. Sure, theres less variety involved having both teams play basketball, but it means its a fair competition relying on skill.
IMO it's a good way to weed out the people with no imagination anyway. All the people with no imagination can have the same track, while the rest of us with actual ideas will sound different.
sheesh.
No offence to anyone.

I agree we must use the vocals, but yeah, please put it in the rules to avoid further arguments
