I don't think they're trying to stop it either, they're not stupid, they are probably aware they can't stop it, but i do think they are trying to reduce it.

It's the same thing they do here with speeding. They just made speeding fines here a lot heftier recently. I think its 30km/h over the speed limit and it's automatic loss of license. Obviously this won't stop people speeding, but it will reduce it BECAUSE the fines are so hefty.

All they are doing is making examples of people. If they do it continuously then hopefully people will start to realise that it isn't consequence-free.

If only it would actually work.

Just look at all the comments in the article that was posted. Look at how many of those people, all young, that are just bluntly stating they think it's stupid to fine people. And that illegally downloading isn't wrong.

Those are the future speaking, and they all think it isn't wrong to steal music.

Shit ain't going to be fixed, if you ask me. They're all to ignorant, and just won't even acknowledge stealing music is wrong.

yeh it definitely wont work, everyone will think its a one off, will never happen to them. its the same with speeding. the only way to effectively stop people from speeding is to make police and cameras obvious. Having police hide in bushes and pop out and fine people doesnt stop people speeding, it generates money. the scare factor doesnt work, out of sight, out of mind.

have you been to melbourne? the war on speed down there is ridiculous. anyone doing 20+k's over is labelled a hoon and child killer.
