To be fair, it does sound like a euphemism for penis.

Respect ......
Vibes has been in our scene for over 20 years now .
what gives you the right to come on a public forum and slate him you idiot .
As you can see by the majority consensus on here he is a top bloke and you know why people say that because its true , can you imagine how many sets he has played in all them years , yes there would be the odd night where he has had a merry night so may hit a clang or 3 (who hasn't )
he has contributed a lot to our scene covered thousands of miles played some blinding sets and put some massive smiles on ravers faces . i know shane on a personal level and i have nothing but love for him . for me its all about respect and you should show some to a Hardcore legend.

I wouldn't want to say that Mortis, because the "top bloke" arguement is starting to get moot. Why do you guys think the Sy vs MC storm thing became so infected?

It helps though, if the man was a known cunt, the love for him might not be so great, even if he were technically gifted. Look at Storm, he's not the most popular chap in the scene but he is very good at what he does.
Also, as mentioned, a few of these clangers probably happened whilst he was interacting with the crowd (shaking hands, having a bit of banter with Livelee, etc)

Obviously, I'm not saying any old nice guy who's never even touched a record just deserves to be a DJ over an up-his-own-anus tosspot with the hands of a God, but you knew that already.

Anyway, enough of that. He's a fucking superb DJ.

Well I would. I'm not bothered about the whole "top bloke" argument I was commenting regarding the whole post T.C. made, which had a lot more than that one point in it

Orbit1 was supposedly a cunt aswell but he was liked, and gifted. What you on about?

And do note, I am not defending Wilky or Elliott here. I can clearly hear on the few Vibes mixes I've heard that he isn't horrible. If anyone's horrible, it's me :P

Gotta say...Respect to the TC.....I've heard Vibes mix live at a few events and like most, The occasional clang might be there at some point....But....Speaking from a DJ point of view....Setup's are a major factor in a DJ's performance.....The monitors could be crap or not even there...The decks could be crap...The amount of problems you can get from equipment that has not been checked or maintained will 100% have an effect on the sound and mix, This doesn't just apply to event setup's but any setup...Events, Bedroom, Pirate radio etc......Vibes has been doing what he does for a good 20 years, This will obviously destroy your ears over time especially mixing with Happy Hardcore due to the pressings and eq's.
I've spoken to him a few times before he's about to step up and done sets at events after him.....He is always having it proper....And he might at some point be a bit worse for wear...I have been on plenty occasions including live on air........I've got a fair few mixes by Vibes from the past years and the mixing is all good to my ears.....There are plenty of "Big Name" Dj's about that are a bit ignorant and their mixing and selection is a bit crap but....I don't know the setup that everyone mixes on...Trust me...When you are on a sub-standard setup it cripples you as a DJ.....Vibes loves it and sometimes might forget he has to mix...I've done and do the same......He's made some classic tracks over the years that have inspired a load of people to buy and mix his tunes and make music......Don't think it's good to wak a post up saying he's the worst DJ tho......This post will get a negative response I know...But....Credit where it's due......He aint the "Worst DJ"....He's on the level....
This is a simple response btw...I have no time for ******** pussy keyboard fights.

Thankyou.

Simply put, ravers are more forgiving on a set loaded with great tracks and some trainwrecks here and there than a set full of terrible tracks, or a set full of tracks that are transitioned in a pretty questionable order.

I've only heard Vibes play once, and that was at last year's HTID ITS. Personally I wasn't that fond of the set, but not because he trainwrecked, which I honestly don't believe he did, but because I was sick to death of the songs he played lol. Many of them haven't been played throughout the whole week, but I've heard them so many times in online radio, sound/mixcloud mixes, album mixes, etc. that I really didn't want to hear them live. Nothing against Vibes, but personally I was just tired of hearing a lot of those track in my lifetime and hearing them live didn't change that. Only noticeable thing though is that the sound quality was not all that great the first track, maybe it was a terrible vinyl rip or something. And who could really hear trainwrecks with MCs blabbering every second during a set lol (more on MCs in the new SY topic later)

I'm not a dj or an expert on mixing or technival ability or anything, but i obviously know bad mixing when i hear it, and i have heard bad mixing by vibes and others, but don't know how your getting that he trainwrecks every transition in every mix, thats just ********! love vibes and have listened to countless sets, and never a problem, have heard the odd bad bit of mixing, but hes only human, we all make mistakes, no need to crucify him over them,

Big up the dj vibes! LEGEND!!

Vibes is a hero, he's playing a 90 min set after me this Saturday at Bust An Old Jam, I can't wait to hear what he plays! In 96 a lot of the DJs were playing the same F&S, Eruption, Impact, Slipmatt etc stuff but Vibes played so many tracks from around the world, Weirdo & Sim stuff, Highlander, stuff from Australia etc, he must have ploughed through records and been sent loads of promos and he really opened my eyes to the broader happy hardcore sound.

DJ'ing is 80% selection, 20% mixing....some ****s think its the other way round these days and couldn't progress a set if they tried. Vibes is a master of that.
