New trancey stuff? Everyone is complaining about Breeze & Styles and the new Raver Baby sound... These people should check the 'What's your favourite label?' topic. It's not Raver Baby which wins in this contest... It's NextGen/Blatant Beats!!! the 94-95-sound was very unique, but it is the past, it was really a nice era, but it has ended. But we have the nextgen-sound which beats the raver baby sound! Welcome at the present pal! It's better than ever!

"if it isnt broke.. dont fix it"
This was the problem, the scene has a recession due to the sound going stale.
if you cast your mind back a few years to when Hardcore was dead as a dodo!
The new trancey sound that you seem to dislike was the sound that revived
the scene and created a new bass for us all to work from.
So I have to differ and say it was broken, and we did fix it.
Also.. as for the amature production of yesterday, that is past, producers who
were producing that material were producing to the highest standard that they
could back then and that is exactly what they are doing today.
The difference is that the skills they have in the studio have increased over
the years, as has technology.
You may think the production added character but I dissagree, hardcore
sounds better than ever now it has a production level that is credible.
This is also why you find hardcore has more commercial intrest, larger labels,
artists and the like are checking the new sound and giving it respect for what
it is... a well produced music genre.
The only thing I would change at the moment is to dump the 'Happy Go Lucky'
image of hardcore in the media and go with a much more mature look and feel.
You can see our attempts at this with the new Higher State branding...

trance is for mature older people hardcore is for the kids

mm i think hardcore was at its prime a few years back, it was awesome, now, about all this you are stilla kid buisness, im 16, and ive been listening to this music for a good few years on my own accord, witht the influence of brother though since i was 5 or 6, so, i get what you all mean by it being ripe in 95, 96, but i think hardcore today is equally as good, some sounds VERY simillar, not as much variety, but hey, new generation of dj;s poppin up so lets wait and see eh...

110% agree!! Definately the way forward. There are still people out there who laugh when harcore is mentioned as they still think its chipmunks n piano's etc, because of the cartoony artwork..........and probably their plain ignorance.
