Well to be honest I completely deplore drug taking of any sort, but I think it's sad that people only notice the dickheads who wreck the scene instead of the people who try not to

I think I emit strange vibes to people because I am obsessed with hardcore (although, it's only part of my musical taste, but it's one of the biggest) and then, I am completely clean from everything drugs and alcohol. I don't smoke nor drink, and due to the stereotypical thoughts of "rave" music I am expected to party hard and drink and do drugs every week... I'm proud to say I don't.

I've been to raves and yes i took pills, not because it makes the music better. I take them because on a whole it makes me feel better about myself, ill rave and not care how much of a tw*t i look because im enjoying myself, im mashed and i to be honest i dont give a ****. Its cheaper to take e because ypur not paying for over priced alcohol all night you buy 1 bottle of water and fill it up from the tap.
Songs do have dug related lyrics, lost the plot lyrics excuse me do you no were the dealers are?. Shut your eyes feel the rush.

The discussion of wether drugs are bad or not, or wether they are bad to be associated with the music or not always comes up.
To me it's extremely obvious though: it's no more right to not to drugs at a rave than it is to do them, it's just a matter personal preferance. It's no more unethical to do drugs that it is to drink or smoke (and for those who say that is unethical, then, indeed anything that is enjoyable).
If you say it's bad without reason, then it's because your just going along with what the media has told you, which in itself is bad!
When people do drugs they do it for enjoyment, the exact same reason people do most things in life (that are out of choice), so by saying it's bad to do drugs then it's not much different from saying its bad to do anything enjoyable (i'm not talking from a health point of view, just an ethical one) :P

No offence but reading some of these posts... do any of you actually go to raves?
Raves are full of drugs, its accepted and its been understood for many years, its a well known fact... most of the people associated with the scene do it, its what built the music into what it is!
Of coarse producers write the music knowing that people will wanna rush to it... its not the sole reason we write it but its certainly a big factor.
Anyone who thinks that the dj's, producers and ravers are goody two shows who front anti drug campaigns need to go to the nearest rave to em and get themselves a reality check haha.
Seriously guys, wise up a bit... the scene was built on this stuff... taking em doesnt make you a bad person and not taking em doesnt make you better than the person who does.
I DJ at raves every weekend, run my own raves and of coarse produce tunes and I can honestly say that I dont think ive ever met a raver that didnt do em... well.. a handfull.
It comes down to this... if you like them and they are your bag.. do em.
If you dont like them and prefer not to do them so be it... but anyone chatting in this post and passing hardcore off as a scene that isnt built and run on it just hasnt been to enough raves yet.

yeah i get blasted! normally more at partys than raves i get too paranoid come 5 in the morning haha
the thing that i find stupid is people who dont take drugs at all think that everyone who does is a dirty little addict who constantly thinks about them and needs them to carry on existing. they sit there shaking going cold turkey tripping out thinking people have horses heads. granted some are! but come on! wise up fools! i just drop a few pills every couple of weeks and dance for a few hours!
saying that i might get some smack for the next rave, shoot up and go sit on the ceiling for the whole night! haha jk

I started listening to HHC when I was 9 years old
I certainly didn't do drugs
I went to my first rave when I was 14
I certainly didn't do drugs
All these years later I still love the music as much (if not more) and drugs have absolutely nothing to do with it.
However, it is true that people link HHC/UK Hardcore/etc. wtih the use of chemical substances such as MDMA.
There are two groups at raves: true music lovers (often sober or with a pint) and drug addicts (...not...sober)

My christ, comments like that make me wonder if you have been to a rave... I can tell you certainly havent here in the UK.
How can you say that true music lovers dont do drugs? hahaha... are you saying that almost every hardcore dj and producer has no love for the music?
get some facts mate... please... for your own sake.

Not all drug takers are drug addicts like not all drinkers are alcoholics. As i said i take drugs whilst at raves but i dont asociate raves and/or hardcore to drugs.

What I'm trying to say is that if you REQUIRE pills to enjoy the music, you're obviously not a real music lover.
I've obviously been to raves, as I said. I'm a DJ and a promoter and I throw raves.
Yes, people do drugs but those that won't go to a rave if they don't have drugs or aren't able to have a good time without them don't deserve to be there IMO.
Two of the top 3 raving nights I've had were sober. I stand by my point that we should work against this generalization that ravers need drugs to like the music - I definately loved the music before doing any drugs and, no, all ravers definately don't do drugs.
I can probably name 20 ravers in my city that have never done chemical drugs.
