These topics are always hilarious. Why is it some T-totals are so damn quick to jump on their high horses and prove themselves as superior humans and the only people who truly like music.
I listen to music when I'm sober and I love it, I listen to music when I'm ****ed and I love it. Guess I don't like music then by your logic? Even though I take music everywhere with me in some form or another and can't go without.
I'm not a complete wastehead but I don't care if people think I am, they're the idiot for thinking it IMO. I have a decent job and I'm a level headed contributor to our society.
I have nothing against people who don't take drugs and would never try to encourage it. Anyone who thinks they're better than me or like music more than me 'cus they don't do drugs can do one TBH --->.
*edit*
Just curious... If someone has an ice-cream when they're at the fair, do they not enjoy going to the fair?

Did you not read my last post? I said the ones that aren't real music lovers are the ones that can't enjoy raving without drugs, I never said everyone that does drugs can't be a real music lover.
Clearly, if you still listen to that music sober and love it you don't fall in that category...

Here in the UK most people at raves do drugs; probably about 80% The rest drink or are sober :P Drinking though at a rave is equal to doing other drugs, although no one commented on alchahol being better.
Raves are very much about the drugs, they are somewhere where you can go and get totally wasted while raving to your favourite music at a very high sound level with loads of others, that's what it's about for most people.
No one really needs the drugs though, it's just a very nice addition that makes it better than it could otherwise be, and there is nothing wrong with that. Bulby hit the nail on the head with his ice cream analogy :P
In fact Bulby is a perfect example of the fact that there is nothing wrong with responsible drug use, and it's just idiots that do it. I find drug users to be much more open minded than those who don't do any drugs. That's not to say though that anynone should do drugs; people just need to stop less judgemental to those who do drugs.

Yes you dont need drugs to enjoy hardcore in its glory.
But what the hell drugs give you that extra boost which makes you feel better.
I must admit ive done them at a few raves, but in the end it doesnt make a difference because u feel worse after, its just good at the time when everyone loves each other.

If u are reading this then u must have some kinda interest or opinion on drugs,
I have tried a bit of everything thru the years and still enjoy a smoke now and again, for me hardcore IS my XTC, u shoudnt NEED drugs, If u believe that u do (and be honest with YOURSELF) then PLEASE read this.
I lost a mate 5 years ago to xtc, he was far smarter than me at school and yet he fell in the "if ure having then ill have pit" the last time i saw him at the local nightclub he had necked 8 E's and thought ABSOLUTELY nothing of it, he did this (REGULARLY) cos a few of his mates were doin the same so he felt inclined to 'join in'.
Im NOT saying dont touch drugs like 'mommy or daddy' would say, im saying that once your high, enjoy it. Dont be pressurised into a 2nd or 3rd of whatever youre on, most of my buddies are 'totally cabbaged' because of this, they end up takin more and more cos either their mates are or they feel that they aint gettin the 'desired' hit
DONT FALL IN THIS TRAP. ITS MAJOR BAD NEWS!
I know it isnt directly replying to this topic but i feel its REALLY important and i know that there is a lot of people in their early teens who may read this SO LISTEN! if youre even just having a smoke then DO IT RESPONSIBLY, DONT TRY TO 'KEEP UP WITH YOUR MATES'.
OK, my rant is complete! thanks for readin

Raves = Messy Ravers, simple!
I'd say it was more like 95% of people that are f**ked at a rave & Hardcore Raves do seem to be among the messiest!! So in that sense I would say the two should be associated with one another, but you can have one without the other. whatever state people want to be in when listening to the music is fine you don't need to argue about who likes it more that's pathetic.
Most Producers/MCs who get bookings regularly are on stage in front of a different audience every week, 95% of which are on drugs, of course they'll have this in mind when making tunes/lyrics, do you not listen to hardcore? or live hardcore at least & the tunes with all the references however subtle they might be. It would be ridiculous for artists not to think about what state their audience is in, they're always trying to give ravers the biggest rush possible. Any drug-basher that wants to think otherwise is either doesn't know anything about the UKHC, or doesn't know anything about the UKHC Scene (In the UK).
Gurners make raves more interesting, with all the crazy faces to look at and battered people to chat b*****ks to. Maybe it's different in other countries when you go out, but in the UK (where most of the UKHC is produced, surprisingly!) the HC raves are messy as fook & IMO it's quality, but I'd still go sober & have done before.

Every1 is different, I personally cant go raving without a bit of charlie and some mandy, i think to be able to feel it you need the drugs.
You need to feel it and not hear it.

there are two types of ravers:
the ones who think the lyrics "raving is my life" = "taking drugs is my life"
and then there are the ones who really know what it's all about! :)
