Spiritual topic this one.
Do you actually believe in God, or do you prefer the big bang theory!? When do you think the universe will end?
Personally, i think that the universe has always been here. It has no beginning and has no end, it will always remain. I think this because we have no concept of time, our brains are too small to even not consider that there is a beginning and an end. So what happens if there wasn't a beginning and an end? What happens if it was always here?
What do you lot think?

Huh? We do have a concept of time! Well I do anyway... I think the opposite of the big bang will happen, and then after that the big bang will happen again. Since mass can be turned into energy and vice versa I think in the distant future all the energy in the universe will condence into mass, only to explode again and start over... Oh and no, I don't believe in God :)

very good topic whittle :)
well firstly my entire family are catholic except me they didnt christen me for some reason and im the only non catholic(i know sounds weird but meh)
so i went to catholic schools and was brought up with god pushed in my face and allthough im a believer in spirituality i do not believe in the christian god and the way in which christians believe the world came to be etc.
i do however believe in a higher being or whatever you want to call it and believe we are simply here to live and learn and not sit praying or sit on a carpet five times a day praying......this to me seems ridiculous as what can we achieve by praying to somebody we have no proof exists.....ok ok faith has a lot to do with religion but thts my view anyway.....plus you can say faith has to be there coz there int no proof so its a gap filler???in other words.
so yeah i believe the universe/earth are something we will never understand untill we die.......yeah ok scientists can throw theories about like they have since the beggining of time but in the end scientists have an answer for everything they cannot fully understand because they have a need to understand everything.......doesnt mean the answer they give is rite does it?
for me allthough the pagans have had some very bizzare ways/rituals i have always felt a pull to learn more about paganism but i havnt taken tht step yet....but i do believe i will one day.
sorry for going off topic slightly but it all seemed relevant imo :)

My theory is that the universe is just a temporary imbalance of equal amounts of positive and negative energy/mass, and that the sum total of energy/mass is equal to zero. Therefore it can come from absolutely nothing and then go back to nothing once the imbalance is restored, it just takes a very long for that to occur, at least from our point of view.

OMG this is so freaky, i was theorising about the universe with a guy in work tonight and apparently we have a theory that its possible that there is a universe in each particle of a coke can, and that when one minute passes for our universe a billion years passes for those universes but when the can is crushed we destroy these universes.
so in conclusion we have theorised that our universe is a particle in a coke can and that in about a billion years time we are gonna be crushed
(yes i am sober, it's just my mind goes a bit off track on wednesday nights)

sounds quite good, kinda what i believe anyway.
I spent a lot of time in hospital when i was a teenager and thought about this sorta thing a lot, like life, afterlife and whatever. Tbh though however much i went through it in my head i never came up with an answer i was 100% confident was correct. And as you said aswell theres no scientists that can tell us 100% so gotta follow what you feel i suppose.
Can you explain what the pagans are to me aswell, i've heard of that before but i've got no idea what there about etc?

I used to believe in the big bang theory, until one day I began to think - where did this mass of energy come from? IMO there has to be some kind of creative force out there - ie. god. I'm a christian, not a catholic or a protestant or a morman or any kind of denomination. I simply believe in the birth and ressurection of jesus christ and i believe in a god. Some crap that christians come out with just harms themselves in other peoples views and I tend to take a lot of what I hear or read with a pinch of salt - although I do believe that there are underlying facts in the Bible that can aid us in living our everyday life.

I never could decide what side of the fence I was on in this topic. I think it's a combination of the two. some people dwell too much on trying to find the zero, I prefer to look more towards now and the future. that and everything can be solved through mathmatetics =P

Ahhhh i believe in darwins theory of evolution but believe it should be a mix with creationism, i dont like to think everything exists only to die. You could call me a fence sitter but i prefer the term "scientifically religious man" even tho i'm not very religious. Turns out alotta scientists share my view

The bottom line is there's only really two possiblilities, regardless of whether or not it's a single universe or a multi-verse, there must be an overall single structure.
Is it infinite or finite?
If it's infinite, then it goes on forever and has existed forever without beginning or end.
If it's finite, then it must have some kind of outer boundary and be surrounded by a void of absolute nothing. In this concept it must also be possible for everything to come from the void of nothing without having a creator, because the creator would also need to be created, and the creator of the creator of the creator and so on.
In either case there is no creator. So you have decide whether you can accept true infinity or true nothingness.
Personally I go with true nothingness, and that why I came up with the concept of sum energy total equals zero and the whole universe can ultimately cancel itself out.
ill go with that. if there was a creator, who created him?
bah, its like trying to imagine yourself not being born, you can use the conclusion that you were destined to be here but ultimatly its just a complete head fcuk

I'm not too sure what i believe... but i think there's more to it than current scientific theories...
If a God does exist then this dude is ULTIMATE... he could of invented science as we know it today and pulled it over our eyes so we come up with theories like the big bang, evolution etc... In this God's world science would be totally different... being able to create things from nothing for example? Hence how he/she/it created our universe...
or something like that.

Don't believe in god at all myself. Maybe there is a "spiritual" energy source that exists in another dimension I don't know but I guess it's very possible. Time does not exist.
Read up on string theory if you havn't already, very interesting.
