I would never have 2nd thoughts about telling someone what type of music i'm into as i'm into loads of other genres aswell.
If they aren't open minded enough to check out another scene & judge it for themselves then I don't have time to sit & explain it. End of
If they have at least tried to give it a go then I will happily point them in the right direction

Nope, will say I listen to Hardcore or Happy Hardcore. If I get a blank look I'll usually follow up saying "rave" music, most will understand that. It often follows by "aren't you a bit old to still be listening to that"

I say Rave music as some people are not sure why any such music would be called 'Hardcore'
Rave was a term used alot back in the late 80s early 90s before the name Hardcore came about! I also find alot of people class Hardcore as 'chav' music but then again rave music is sometimes wrongly classed as druggie music!

I just say electronic music or dance music. Because usually when i say the genre name they dont know, and i cant be arsed to explane. I will never lie. I go into more detail if i think the person i'm talking to knows what i'm saying. I'm not going to go sounding like a snob saying i listen "insert cool sub-sub-sub genre names". But i'm not ashamed to say that i listen e.g. BubbleGum.

sorry dude, i lived there for 19 years, it sucks. it's flat and it's boring and there is more to do out here. there are no mosquitoes, no cripplingly humid summers, and there are mountains here.
if i were you, i'd explore the rest of your country. the expression "west is best" completely applies.

I tell people I listen to Hardcore music, and I am replied with a question about which rock/metal/heavy metal/etc. BAND I like......
Or in a 2nd situation:
I will be listening to some Hardcore at the college, and of course, its cheesy and full of chipmunky vocals, so when I am asked, "What are you listening to?" and I reply, "Hardcore", they snigger and walk away.
3rd Situation:
"What are you listening to?"
"Hardcore" I reply
"You mean Hardcore Techno?".......
Is it just me, or is America the only country bad for labeling EVERYTING techno?
I honestly think I am going to start saying Happy Hardcore, whether its 90's style of 2000's just to deviate away from the rock comments.
