umm, no on the cracker part
a cracker is not primarily an offensive word. it's 1st and foremost a snack. whereas N*** is, and has always been an offensive word.
and i personally have a thing against calling ppl by the color of their skin. i do it sometimes yea just b/c it's faster than saying african american, but i still know i'm wrong. you don't see ppl calling latinos the browns or native americans the reds or asians the yellows
and african american just means American of African descent. doesn't specifically mean you had to be born there, just descended from there. after all, that is where the majority of the african americans in the US descended from, and there are still many Africans migrating to the US to this day
and yea not EVERY one of them is descendant from africa. so in her case i'd call her bahamian.

Actually you are wrong there sir. When one is called a "cracker" it is a racial slur. When the times of slaves, the slave foremen that took "care" of the slaves had whips to punish the slaves if they did not do what they were told. So after time went by the slaves started calling the foremen "crackers" as a term of hatred as when they came by the would "crack" the slaves, and just as the "owners" called most of the black slaves "niggers" it was hateful and demeaning. Even to this day "cracker" is a racial slur, people dont want to believe that its hurtful and wrong, but it truly is. It might have been that the white people just got fed up with the slur and never passed it down, or just people are ignorant.

But it wouldnt be wrong, its more accurate then calling one "African American" or "Mexican" or any other term. As you just showed by calling a group of people "Latinos". That would be the same as calling one "black", "white", "African" or even "Asian". If you dont know anything about the person you have talked to and you call them "Mexican" because they are brown but are from Brazil, then you are wrong. But if you call them "Latino" then you are correct and that is the group they are from. Same goes for any other race, you wouldnt call someone from Japan, Chinese just because of their skin, you would call them "Asian" so you dont offend them. Same goes to people from the "Middle East", you wouldnt want to call someone from Iraq, "Pakistani"just because of their skin.
It would be the same with a European person, you wouldnt say "Wilky" is German because he hales from a place in Europe.
So by calling someone "black", or "white" would be more accurate than trying to guess someones motherland.
And I a white guy could be "African American" as the colour of a persons skin does not mean they are from a country they wernt born in. Like half of the souther part of Africa has mostly whites.
And if you know anything about history, we all originated in the now day Africa.

Actually it haven't, comes from the word black (in latin). The finnish equivalent was used the same way as e.g. "white" is used. Only in early 90's they decided here that its a racial slur (mostly due to the status on the American equivalent). My point is, it being a racial slur is all about Americas history. But the word itself, originally, isn't a racial slur. But now, here after its taught as being a racial slur, saying it is being racist. But it depends how old you are. Someone in the 50's using it, isn't being racist. Someone in the 20's using it is :P

In light of that description i don't see how the term cracker could be remotely racist let alone offensive, seems pretty fair to me. Whipping on the other hand... How exactly does enslaving someone and then them not liking it make them racist?

I find that a bit funny, but then again I'm not from over there...
Maby only the tabloids are willing to push this type of stories? Doesn't necessarily make it any less true.
