Yeah, I only liked a few tracks (6-ish) on 8, but I'd go as far as to say I liked MOST of the tracks on this one.
Also I've come to REALLY like the new Ultrabeat track on Hixxy's mix. Probably my favorite tune of theirs since Paradise & Dreams (Re-Con Remix).

Yes that tune is a beast, was the very last tune that MC Junior ever wrote before he sadly passed away. Also you get the full dj friendly unmixed version of it if you download CXH9. Result!

It's funny that people talk about Hixxy's mixing in such a negative way because recently i've been listening to a lot of old albums on my itunes. I mean back in the day when Djs actually used to mix on them instead of just fading stuff in and out and just chopping in one minute fillers. I would say that some of my favorite track mixed moments came from Hixxy himself! Of course not my utter favorite which belongs to brisk on Absolute Hardcore 2 when he mixed Hyperactive - Let me play and Bang - Sailaway (hard as fook mix) for a good two mins with no chopping at all. It just goes to show how far these things have fallen which is a shame indeed.
Edited to add: I'm sure there are better examples than the brisk one (Probably from the man himself) but it's the one that always comes to mind.

That is absolutely true, can't remember how many times I listened to his old bonkers mixes... they actually inspired and taught me how to mix properly... and now it's poor quickmixing :/

Hixxy is one of my favourite DJ's for 90's stuff. Specifically because he is a good DJ.

Great point, me and a friend were talking about this the other night how he starting getting so much stick but we come to the conclusion a lot of it was off the back of the last revival of hardcore and the birth of Raver Baby, Jelly Baby and HTID, mainly due to people being pissed off about the scene being classed more commercialised due to certain remixs floating around, involvement with Clubland and Hixxys branding taking monopoly of the scene. At the time it needed to be done or there might not of been much of a scene left but with Hixxy being at head of it all left him in the firing line for everything. I've always thought Hixxys been a good Dj, he may have a bad mix from time to time but no ones perfect you here all the big names mess up on occasions but no one gets as much stick as him.

It's his live mixing that gets the most criticism and rightly so imo. Some of his sets are fine but others are just ridiculous for someone who has been Djing this long. Beats galloping all over the place and tunes getting mixed at the wrong time, basic mistakes that you don't seem to hear from any other top tier dj's.
