If you don't like their sound, don't listen to it, but don't blame them for getting thousands of peoples into hardcore, that's just the best thing that could happen.
Now about Bonkers, some people need to wait and see, because pointing fingers and being scandalised about something that hasn't even happened yet is ridiculous.
im speculating.. look at how clubland has changed from being good (2nd edition) to bad (5th edition). htid, the term associated with many existing hardcore fans produce their album and people like that stuff rather than some other stuff. they all get that album then no longer buy from labels. labels dont have the ability to out-reach to existing ravers who're getting the albums from retailers let alone new customers who're also envoked in clubland and htid.
its not about me and what i like, but its about the future of hardcore. AATW appear to be assimilating the market. they're swallowing dj's and using the worst material possible. they dont even mix tracks which contradicts the term 'DJ'... with AATW being such a big name in hardcore, it almost closes the door on other labels who'll struggle. anyone remember Baked Potatoe? i think gammer set it up. i havent heard them in ages and i havent seen anything promoting their - or anyone elses releases apart from on the home page, and the homepage isnt a facility all hardcore fans use. all they will ever see is main stream hardcore tv adverts and the shevles peppered in clubland

exactly, and clubland are finding its more profitable by changed to suit others needs moving out of our own tastes. and more and more hardcore is being swallowed. my favourite; bonkers, has now been adopted by AATW and a dare say what'll happen. but it'll change no doubt into a money making mainstream rather than a quality comp designed to showcase good music.

Clubland isn't the only Hardcore series to be retailed, or the only Hardcore series to have tv advertisement. Again, people who only know about HTID wouldn't even know of Hardcore if it wasn't for them. All that's left is for them to do a little research, and to explore the genre. I started listening to Happy Hardcore with the Happy 2B Hardcore albums, pretty much the only facade of hardcore over here in America back then, but when I got tired of hearing the same songs I moved on to other series and producers.
The use of words such as assimilating and swallowing seem completely off to me, especially considering how few producers actually make it onto the HTID/AATW albums.

Commercialization is a horrible bastard that's soaking up any hardcore it can get it's hands on. Argh it's just plain sad.
I'm still pretty depressed that AATW had swallowed up Bonkers....

AATW probably done operate as much in Canada or the US. You probably dont hear much about it. im assuming the biggest market for it is the UK and Australia. + Europe.

I'm selling all my bonkers cds in january, they've been in a box for awhile... since that happened in june i've lost faith in alot of the stuff today...
How i look at things,
As long as you know whats good and whats garbage ie. clubland x-treme etc. Then you really don't have to worry about the crud whats being put out. It's such ashame that people are blind to see what is happening.
I support the underground or well established names but not the 'mainstream' popular...
I'll always like mr. styles for his work with Force and the evolution, but i just won't put my ears to anything new out... But for his contributions to the scene he deserved a top.5 album and recognition to a wider audience who didn't know who he was anyway..

im not worried at all... i think its great that hardcore is finally getting the recognition it should be getting.
bonkers is possibly a slight concern but they wouldnt want it to be 'commercialised' as it would mean they dropped sales in other 'commercial' cd's.. but overall.. give a shit?! no
its sites like this that will always churn out the underground stuff, its compilations like hardcore underground that will always churn out the underground stuff and its also events like, (insert underground event here) that will always churn out the underground stuff..
nothing to worry about
roll on 2009.

I thought originally the rumour that AATW had taken over the Bonkers series was just a joke.
AATW used to be ok, especially when I was much younger and they were releasing mainstream dance music, but as I got older my music tastes matured and I hate the direction the whole Clubland scene has gone. I must admit I used to buy the Clubland albums, back then the first 3 or 4 were actually really good, but after No.6 I stopped buying it as the direction the commercial dance scene was heading just didn't appeal to me.
I am unsure about the next Bonkers 18 and how AATW will influence it. There may not be such a radical watering down of Hardcore music as most of us would imagine there to be, Hixxy, Styles, Breeze, Squad E and Re-Con have already contributed enough CD Mixes with HTID and CXTreme 5 and surely Bonkers will continue to promote the freeform, bouncy and gabber sounds.
