OK, so what do you all think?
I got mine from HMV about 30 minutes ago. I wont be listening to it tonight.
But....The artwork is tidy, each DJ has a bio in their CD Inlay with a 'thanks' bit too....well for Unknown and Sharkey anyway....interestingly, Hixxy thanks nobody.
There is also a seperate booklet with a 2 page 'Facts' page about Bonkers from the MD or React 'James Horrocks'
Interesting things to note:
Bonkers 1 has sold 80,000 copies
Bonkers 3 sold 120,000 copies
Bonkers 7 charted in 1999 and due to hardcores resurrgence charted again in 2002
Bonkers has sold over a million units in total

Well there is definitely a detailed history in there, which I think considering they havent called it 18 was a good idea.
They even mention that Neophyte was on one of them :)

to be honest i like it sharkeys mix is spot on havent listined to hixxys yet n most of unknowns is canny good aswell overall its not to bad theres worse compilations out there! and iam relived because i really thought aatw were going to make a complete arse of it!

Dude, H2BH represents the only time Hardcore was ever truly popular in Canada.
The mixing is certainly not the best, but the tracklistings were great and that's what people remember most. It really was an amazing thing to be able to buy Hardcore on mainstream shelves. Hardcore really has been going downhill in Canada eversince the H2BH series ended. It's no coincidence that the popularity of the genre has always been proportionnal to it's mainstream distribution. It's exactly the same in the UK, where Bonkers is hitting mainstream shelves at the time the genre is at it's peak of popularity.

So true its not even funny! Im pretty sure im the only one in the whole province of quebec that listens to hardcore electronic music. I have not met one person in the whole 6 years ive been listening to hardcore, it sucks. But hey, as long as i get the music and HMV im fine with dat!

The same is in the United States. H2BH was one of the only easy hardcore CDs to be found in the U.S. There was a very short time period where the Hot Topics were carrying RAVE GEAR and HARDCORE cds. (atleast where I was living at the time) As I said though, it was VERY VERY short lived. Hot Topic is where I got my first hardcore CD.

Yeah, I feel pretty lonely here in the U.S. The chances of running into another hardcore fan are slim to none. You have a way better chance of running into a celebrity. (serious) It almost seems any form of techno in general is dead here for the most part.

were are you fellow canadians from exactly?....because i could SWEAR that hundreds of people were rockin out on saterday in a MASSIVE hardcore party in toronto that is posted on this site...and ive been to quebec SPECIFICALLY for the biggest hardcore party ive ever been to and planning to come back in the next few months..a couple thousand people! you havnt met ANYONE who listens to hardcore??...i dont think you can be trying hard enough.....Hardcore is most deffinetly kicking here and on the up swing if you ask me....im throwin my first hardcore party in toronto at the end of june.....
maybe there isnt anything the size of hullabaloo goin on atm and maybe theres no hardcore on our cd shelves. and popularity certanly went downhill for a couple years...but i would say its actually growing again....just how i see it i guess:P

sure, a couple thousand, but how many people live in quebec, over a million, a they are all spread out over the huge province, i live in a very small town in quebec, so i have no chance of meeting anyone here. I live right beside montreal, but even in montreal, sure there is a big rave every once a year, but its not hardcore, its stupid crap like Benny Benassi music (no offense to any fans). but the the point, hardcore is going downhill because of people like MC Mario and his crappy MC Mario Mixdown shit, its horrible, ugh i dont even wanna start with his shit.

Back on topic. I bought it today.
Absolute crap.
Sharkey - Couple of nice tunes from Darwin (baby-d track is quality!) , some 180bpm hard house from Gammer and to round it off some Scooter - yep I too gave these mixes the benifit of the doubt but I was wrong - "jumping all over the world" shite, "posse" nice production from Weaver but you can't get away from thinking its a Scooter track.
Unknown - What's the point. Same old crap we've been hearing for years.
Hixxy - More like a best of HITD only they're not the best tracks...
Hardcore Underground 3 is sooooo much better than this. Don't waste your money.
