Minamisariku (i spelled this right apart from an 'n' before the 'r' - actually proud of myself) were hardly richer built up places. Most residencies were wooden huts, only the stone buildings were really left in the town...
A 9.0 earthquake and a tsunami don't make any difference in basic structure of a building anymore. Still amazing how much survived this disaster. Remember Haiti as a comparison (7.0)!

Buy stocks now, make lots of monies, and help Japan.
Win-win!
whether you are joking or being serious that is about the stupidest thing anyone can say. it wouldn't have helped our economy right after we went through 9/11 so what makes you think it will help them as well? in fact that'll help them even less seeing as how villages and small cities were literally washed away. buying stocks isn't going to clean up that after math in 2-4 months or re-align the split roads

I'm not great in that area.. So I was being serious..
But I thought buying stocks gave more money to company's, more money to company's faster they get back up on their feet and get things up and running, those company's help out with other things to get more money to them.
So buying stocks = helping Japan.
But then again I could just suck cocks and no nothing.
Idk..

it depends on what companies you're investing in. and seeing as stocks are a gamble, i think it's wiser to donate money and know what it'll be used for than to invest in stock where you might end up losing and not really know if the $$$ actually helped
as soon as things have been stabilized at the fukushima powerplant and radiation levels are safe, japan will ask for volunteers from around the world to come and help rebuild their nation, much like has happened in haiti, as well as in peru, where one of our own members here (simdog) went and helped

As for the stock buying thing. Buying stock in a company doesn't give the company money. People invest in stocks in the hope that the value of that company, and thus each individual share, will increase. The demand for these stocks is what increases the value of a company and its shares. This doesn't put hard cash into a company's pocket's. All it does, if the share price rises, is make the company's Market/Share Capital rise - which translates as The Markets' valuation of the company. This is beneficial if the company, for example, is looking to be taken over by another company.
But the fundamental point I'm getting at, is that people buy shares (your average private investor, anyway) in companies to make themselves richer, not for the benefit of the company they're buying shares in.
Yay. Five years worth of working for a corporate information company finally paid off.

France says Japan has lost its grip on the nuclear incident. Finland say the Japanese are doing everything they humanly can in the situation. Theres been way too much politics being played with this incident in Europe.
Personally as devastating as it is, its getting way too much air time. Thousands have died, people are without food, electricity and gas. And the situation around the nuclear plant is not really that serious (at least not yet). I was more shocked at the fact its snowing. On top of everything its now going below zero. If anyone is still alive in the ruins, they aren't very long.
Edit, also a sad picture (i have 2 cats myself):

it/they are caused by the meeting of opposing currents wrapping around each other
the nuclear plant is huge news because other than the obvious dangers, a lot of japan's fiscal future is depending on it. as much money as the bank of japan throws at the market it isn't going to normalize until people know if they are going to have a chernobyl or not

This is beyond horrible. I wonder how long it would take for Japan to recover from this.
Also that cat picture of that cat almost makes me cry, just as Whispering, I am a cat lover and it breaks my heart to know that the nature can be so cruel to itself.

To the first one.
It's basically an internet saying/term, meaning "never mind, that was wrong, I am not capable of say or doing something right" Or "Disregard that, I suck cocks"
To the second part.
Thank you for clearing that up, really. I knew very little about how stocks worked.
I know people here (in the middle of nowhere Illinois) people are freaking out about the nuclear fallout thing, they are buying food and freaking out...
I dont see why...

that's b/c it's the american way
whenever a disaster hits, americans feel they have to make it about themselves and prepare for radiation that won't even affect us.
