   DFM Records change of hands
DJ Fracus announced this week that he will be taking over the running of DFM Records in its entirity and that the label is far from finished. One Focus Records (a new venture from Fractus as well) is still very much going ahead but will now be an outlet for more experimental and freeform based music we are told.

Forthcoming releases both out this autumn (Spring for the Aussies) now look like this:

DFM010
A: G.E.O.S - Everyday
B: G.E.O.S - Atmosphere

DFM011
A: Fracus & Oli G Feat. Donna Grassie - Feel the light (Deejaybee Remix)

   Just another Just Another Label
After an extended hiatus "Just Another Label" (JAL) relaunches in 2004 with an impressive array of new talent and material. While most the new JAL releases will have a "current" flavor we are told, due note of the label's long and distinguished history as been taken into account. JAL stated to HappyHardcore.com that instead of merely emulating the popular sound of the moment, JAL is intended to be at the forefront of innovation whilst still being consistently appealing to as many ravers, and listeners, as possible. The initial releases are on the 4/4 tip, but there will be breakbeat hardcore releases to come in the near future we have been told.

The first of the new releases is JAL042, and this is due out on Special Limited Edition While Label imminently and will be in store.

JAL042
A: Triple J - Seventh Heaven (Main floor mix)
AA: Triple J - Seventh Heaven - (Alternate mix)

JAL043
A: Q-Project - Champion Sound - (Darwin remix)
AA: Q-Project - Champion Sound (Storm & Spinback remix)

JAL044
A: Darwin feat Ant Johnson - Take a Ride (Original mix)
AA - Darwin feat Ant Johnson - Take a Ride (Gammer remix)

There is also additional material due out later this year on JAL from "Darwin", "Mentholated Spirits", "Bubleee" and more ...

   Bonkers 13 + Hardcore till I die 2 CD
HappyHardcore.com has news on the new upcoming Bonkers release. The next Bonkers will official be 13 and not 14 as possibly rumored. It is semi traditional to sometimes skip the 13th release for supposititious reasons.

Bonkers 13 will be a 4 CD release, all the DJ's are 90% confirmed, HappyHardcore.com will announce the DJ names once the ink is dry on the contracts. The CD is due for release in autumn (spring for the Aussies) and will feature a new TV commercial.

Hardcore till I die 2 (pre-order) release date has been bumped up one week to Sept 27th 2004. The DJ's are also confirmed but again we can't release the names until the ink is dry on the contract. Stay tuned!

   This is Noize 2
A new "This is Noize" album is to be released in North American November 15th 2004 from Majestic Records funnily enough called "This is Noize 2". You might remember the first "This is noize" released from Hixxy & Force & Styles back in 1999. The new release will be a single CD mixed by North America's own Sunrize with the CD on sale everywhere (Amazon, Best Buy, Virgin, etc...) we are told. When contacted about the CD release Sunrize added:

We have put together a winning track selection of nearly all new and currently unreleased tunes from some of hardcore's household name's as well as some new faces.

Since moonshine stupidly decided to stop releasing their biggest selling CD Happy2BHardcore North America has been without it's own hardcore CD. Looks like things have changed for the better.

   Alpha aftermath
Since the collapse of Alphamagic (the former largest hardcore 12" distributor in the world) - record store hardcore section's have been getting a little dry. Good news is that all major labels have new distribution deals and several have even started new sub labels with those distributors. It should take about 4-5 weeks for the all the labels to start to get back to regular releases again from the new distributors.

   Bonkers 13 DJ's and Sharkey's new album
The DJ magazine article posted earlier today reveals alot more than just hardcore. The magazine is quoted as saying "Bonkers 13" is due end of the year (semi confirming that the next bonkers will be 13 and not 14 - it is not uncommon to skip a release 13 for superstitious reasons). The magazine article also says that the DJ's will be Hixxy, Sharkey and Scott Brown. Sharkey's second artist album is due early 2005. HappyHardcore.com is not 100% sure on this news as there is no mention to the "best of bonkers" album that was support to be released this year or Hardcore Till I Die 2 which is confirmed to be released October 5th 2004. Resist are still not commenting on either Best of Bonkers or Bonkers 13 so your guess is as good as ours.

DJ Mag 2 page hardcore article
DJ Mag (a well respected UK DJ music magazine) has done a two page article on Hardcore. The piece is a well rounded article on hardcore in general from the past to present covering everything from events, CD's and artists. Sharkey, Hixxy, Breeze & Styles, Luna-C and the CLSM are mentioned just to name a few.

   The Alchemist
HappyHardcore.com has been contacted by classic hardcore producer The Alchemist and been told that he's back doing the hardcore business again. He is working with the Beats 24/7 crew and DJ Slipmatt on a new label that should see a release in September 2004 according to Alchemist.

Word is also that Burn Out Records (Alchemist's old own label) is not completely "Burnt out" yet as well. We will post audio as soon as final versions arrive and keep you posted on developments.

   Amato picking up the pieces
Amato is a large distributor in the UK, in fact one the largest hard house / trance in the UK. Since Alphamagic, formally largest hardcore distributor in the world left the picture record labels have been making new deals all over the place. Formally not known for it's hardcore Amato has taken in alot of new hardcore labels as well as some smaller hardcore distributors. Why is this important? Amato has a very large global reach, is a respectable company and has the ability to push hardcore much larger and better than AlphaMagic could ever had done. Great news for hardcore, it only gets bigger from here.
