| Hardcore charts it up - 4 hardcore albums in UK charts |

Well it's official Hardcore Adrenaline, Best of Bonkers, Helter Skelter V Raindance Hardcore 2007 and Clubland X-treme Hardcore 3 are all in the UK national CD compilation charts at the same time!
Although all released at different times they all reached the top 10 and all performing very well, Clubland went head to head with all the other Christmas releases, Hardcore Adrenaline (released last week) at number 2. |

It's 2007, time for a new label - Hardcore X-Cess is a new upfront vocal hardcore record label from Leigh Outrage and Denile, the guys who brought you Addictive Vinyl, Ravin Phantasy, and Audio Reanimation.
We are told that each release will be available on 12" vinyl only and will aim to showcase the best in previously unsigned talent from across the globe.
With this new label launching, the guys have decided that the other label Addictive Vinyl will close but both Ravin Phantasy and Audio Reanimation labels imprints will continue, but only as limited edition CD only releases.

Rave legend Slipmatt talked exclusively with HappyHardcore.com about the newly released Hardcore 2007 compilation which he has mixed alongside Billy ''Daniel' '' Bunter.....
You must be pleased that major players like Ministry of Sound are backing hardcore albums once again...?
Of course, but there is no getting away from the fact that the hardcore scene is massive at the moment and yes it's great to have so much support from a company so established as Ministry.
Did you ever imagine that Helter Skelter & Raindance would work together on project like this being "rivals" as such?
Not in a million years, but Helter Skelter and Raindance were never really rivals as such. It's great to have two of the biggest most legendary promoters teaming up and working together though.
You recently toured Thailand. How did this all come about and how was the whole experience?
I've been to Thailand twice this year. I have some really good friends over in Bangkok who are sort of involved in the club scene, and they set me up with a couple of gigs back in April on my way to Australia. The whole thing went really well so I ended up going back again last month to play in Bangkok and Koh Samui. The vibe over there is second to none and I can't wait to go back. The Thai people are so friendly and up for the party, it's a great part of the world, so much that my English friends who live over there never want to come back to the UK.
Could you cope with a schedule that saw you jetting around the world every single weekend like some DJs do?
For 4 or 5 months of the year I jet off a few times every week to places like Ibiza and the Greek Islands and then every weekend I still drive all over the UK doing gigs, so I suppose I do have to cope with it, but I love it though. I must have flown at least 100 times this year which averages out at 2 flights per week, and it's been like that for 15 years!
There are a lot of updates of classic old skool tracks on Hardcore 2007 sort of new old skool. Is this your way of keeping the old skool sound alive and relevant?
The Old Skool classic tunes are so good that they never seem to go away, so we thought a different angle would be to remix them and bring them up to date. For me it's worked perfectly being able to play new versions of tunes that I've played for so many years, and the new mixes have been working really well club wise. The idea is to then progress with some original material in the same format which will hopefully lead on to bigger and better things for the whole scene in general.
When it comes to upfront hardcore who really floats your boat and why?
I wouldn't really be able to say I have a favorite producer/artist, but there are DJs like Dougal & Gammer, Sy & Unknown, DJ Storm & Seduction, and Breeze & Styles that always deliver. Others that have appeared in more recent years would have to be Sparky & Sytronik and DJ Kurt because they have their own unique style as well as quality production.
You worked with Billy 'Daniel' Bunter on this album, mixing the compilation together as well as producing some of the tracks for it. What's it like working with Buntersauras?
Bunter is great fun to work with he's a bit like me in the way that everything can be made in to a joke. We always laugh all day long at the most stupid rubbish while we work. On top of that we are on the same wavelength musically and are both keen on getting things done
What have been your DJing highlights of 2006? Which gigs really rocked?
Some of the Ibiza gigs at Summum were the best gigs of the year, Flicks and QBar in Bangkok were amazing, and UK-wise there were loads but the ones that stuck out were probably Fantazia and Hardcore Heaven. Also receiving my Best Old Skool DJ Award at Koko was really cool.
And what about for next year? What's on the cards?
I can't wait till the first week in January to get stuck into my studio and make some new music. I'm really hungry for it again which has been spurred on by making the new album with Bunter. Me and Lime are looking at a new deal for SL2 in the new year with new mixes of 'On A Ragga Tip' and I already have 45 gigs lined up for the summer in Ibiza, Majorca and Corfu which will keep me rather busy.
And finally what do you want for Xmas?
I really need a good Sat Nav and a decent iPod! |
